Who we are...

Trinity Chapel Worship Service

Trinity Chapel is a growing and vibrant church community. We are formed around three main components: Worship, Nourishment, and Service. We currently average 120+ persons in worship each Sunday in a blended worship style that allows persons to come as they are. Flip flops are welcome! We welcome guests from all over the world each Sunday, so if you are vacationing on Tybee Island, please work us into your plans. We are expecting you. We also offer 6 adult discipleship groups to nourish one another through the teachings of the Bible. We also have a lot of fun fellowship events and ministries to nourish one another. Trinity Chapel is engaged in both local and world missions. We support a variety of United Methodist and other Christian missions. If you are looking for a fun, relaxed and uplifting community that is serious about the Christian life, give Trinity Chapel a try.

What we believe

We confess belief in the triune and personal God- Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe in salvation in and through Jesus Christ.

We believe in the sovereignty of God and the Lordship of Jesus Christ to govern our lives as his followers.

Through the grace of God by faith in Jesus Christ we are forgiven of our sins, reconciled to God, and transformed as people of the new covenant.

We believe that the Bible is authoritative in matters of faith, is inspired by God, and is therefore our primary means of nourIshment and formation as the people of God. (1Timothy 3:16)

We believe the reign of God is a present and future reality.

We affirm the unity of the universal church which stems from our common faith in Jesus Christ, incorporated through Christian baptism, celebrated through Holy Communion, and as evidenced by the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives to conform us individually and collectively into God's image.

We recognize our distinctive Wesleyan tradition of emphasizing God's undeserved, unmerited, and loving favor in human existence through the ever-present Holy Spirit which precedes salvation, justifies us, and perfects us in love.

We affirm that God's grace is available to all persons, though not all chose to receive it.

We affirm that salvation is not the end to the Christian life, but the beginning of a journey of fulfilling one's personal and collective mission in the world which is part of God's redemptive work.

We humbly accept God's call to be witnesses for Jesus Christ, to our own personal salvation, and to God's truth.

History

John Wesley, often called the Father of Methodism, would make many historian's top 10 list of influential Christian leaders of all times. Wesley visited America in 1736, and his first steps on American soil were on a little island called Coxspur, which is just over a mile from Tybee Island and the current home of Fort Polaski National Monument. Today Trinity Chapel carries on the great tradition of John Wesley as we combine head and heart into a faith with feet. We follow Jesus by serving the world and growing in maturity. We are seeking to be followers of Jesus Christ and bring others alongside us who are seeking this fullness of life.

This church began as a protestant community church. This Tybee Christian community ideal still forms our identity. We combine with the other churches on Tybee Island for Thanksgiving and Easter worship as well as serve in mission together through the Interfaith Hospitality Network. On April 13, 1947, Trinity Chapel broke ground on its current facilities. Renovations are underway to continue to serve this community's needs.
